Casa de la Moneda 2023
Casa de la Moneda is the Coin and Money Museum of the Banco de la Republica in Colombia. I was invited by the studio Piedra Tijera Papel to create the illustrations for the walls of two rooms of the museum.
These rooms served as a dynamic canvas for illustrating the nation’s story, juxtaposing the evolution of money with Colombia's historical transformation at the dawn of the 20th century.
In the first room, I delved into the concept of money itself. Through a series of illustrations where the evolution of currency was portrayed, showcasing various forms of money used throughout Colombia’s history. This visually engaging display illuminated the intrinsic relationship between economics and culture, demonstrating how the country’s monetary system mirrored its societal changes.
The second room was a journey back in time, focusing on Colombia’s early 20th-century history. I transported visitors to a pivotal era when Colombia was undergoing significant political, social, and economic transformations with the 1000 days war, the creation of the Bank of the Republic and the trasformation of the city and its citizens.
